In a country like China, the human and natural marvels go hand in hand. The countryside of China is a storehouse of all the bounties that Nature can shower. While visiting the Hangzhou countryside, your Hangzhou Travel Guide should not skip the famous Tiantai Mountain Scenic Area in Hangzhou. Situated in the Tiantai county, this stunning destination is known for its outstanding scenic beauty. The other boost to tourism to this locale of eastern Zhejiang province is due to its being home to the Tiantai sect of Chinese Buddhism.

You can visit Tiantai Mountain Scenic Area in Hangzhou at any time of the year. The Tiantai mountain in China is a famous summer resort. Hence, the best time for a stopover at the place starts from April and ends in October. You can enjoy the landscape beating the summer heat. This scenic countryside is located on 2 hours bus ride from Hangzhou. The Tiantai Mountain Scenic Area in Hangzhou is one of the major sites of Sightseeing in Hangzhou. It is spread over 187 square kilometers and is divided into 13 scenic sites.

The first thing you will notice in the vicinity is the Guoqing Temple. Located at the foothills of Tiantai mountain, this temple was built in 5th century A.D. The temple is said to be the cradle of Tiantai cult of Chinese Buddhism. Tiantai Buddhist sects of Japan and Korea too deem the place as their abode. Gouqing Temple currently houses 600 rooms and 14 halls. It is also counted among the best preserved temples of China.

The natural marvels of the area are embodied as Shiliang Waterfall. The stone beam that covers 2 sharp cliffs is known as Shiliang. The waterfall is 98 feet high and creates a deep puddle at the end with a rumbling sound. If you want to have a walk around the stone beam, be sure that you have enough equanimity and steadfastness. It is a complete contrast to the cascading waterfall, you can stare at the Huading peak, the highest peak of Tiantai mountain. The lofty height of 3733 meters nestles it amidst the clouds and will give you a fantastic view of sunrise. If you look down from the peak, the surroundings seem to be the center of the lotus bud with the peak at its center.

At 1000 meters from the sea level, the Tiantai Mountain Scenic Area in Hangzhou is the ideal place for your escapade.
